The Literature and Society class visiting Epigram Books
The students-writers of 24 Hours in Singapore have met Edmund Wee, the founder of Epigram Books, in the premises of this book publisher, that published between fifty to sixty books per year, mainly fiction books
They have been able to explore not only the steps involved in book publishing, but the rich catalogue of this independent publisher as well. In particular, Edmund shared about what happened behind the scenes for the publication of his bestseller The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, a book that recounts the fictional story of a Singaporean cartoonist who goes through several decades after the end of World War Two, in the shape of a long and ambitious graphic novel – an excellent gift for any person who would like to know more about the history of Singapore (to learn more on The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye, click here).
The French School would like to thank Edmund Wee and all the team at Epigram Books (to learn more on Epigram Books click here) for taking the time to welcome its students and for offering each of them a copy of Jerks Won’t Give You Flowers, a graphic novel that recounts the tribulations of a young women in a big city searching for happiness (i.e., Love) (to learn more on Jerks Won't Give You Flowers¸ click here).
The students and their teachers wish Edmund a good reading of 24 hours in Singapore, and as we say at Epigram, hold Singapore in your hands!
